(NewsDakota.com) The Northern Cass High School baseball team scored nine of their 11 runs in the top of the seventh inning to give them a 11-4 victory Monday evening at Cummings Field in Class B Region I play.
The visiting Jaguars (4-2 Class B Region I) scored just two runs in the first inning, and saw Oakes pul within a run in the bottom of the fifth. In the seventh, things went strongly in favor for Northern Cass, as they scored nine runs on four hits; while the Tornadoes committed three errors. Oakes made a small rally in the bottom of the inning, including a two-run home rum by Bryce Meehl, but by then, it simply wasn’t enough.
Meehl took the loss, lasting six and two-thirds innings with just three of the runs being earned. The senior was four-for-four at the dish, with the home run, a double and two hits.
Oakes (2-3) will host Central Cass in two seven-inning games that will each count in the regional standings on Tuesday.
