ND (NewsDakota.com) – An incident involving a Semi, van, and Stutsman County Sheriff’s vehicle occurred at around 9:57 AM yesterday morning near Spiritwood.

A deputy with the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department was conducting traffic control to assist a driver on the side of the road whose vehicle had burned. At that time, a semi driver failed to move over and began reaching for a water bottle. Here’s Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser

A witness reported that the van was completely burned the front wheels of the semi were in the median and traffic was guided past the scene slowly until the road was cleared. The patrol vehicle was considered total. The K-9 in the patrol vehicle received several cuts and was transported to the vet. The dog will be fine.

39 year-old Travis Bell has been charged with traffic citations. No other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
