(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School baseball team won one of the two seven inning Class B Region I games played against Central Cass on Tuesday.

The first game saw the visiting Squirrels earn a 6-1 victory. Kyle Cote allowed just the one run one three hits, and struck out eight. Jacob Roesler connected for a two run home run in the third. Oakes’ lone run came in the sixth on a RBI double by Cole Kelly that scored Bryce Meehl.

Game two was more of a back-and-forth affair, with the Tornadoes holding on for an 11-9 win. Oakes scored five of their runs in the fourth inning, as everyone in the order came to the plate. Oakes padded the lead even more in the sixth inning, as the first four batters hit for the cycle; including a two run home run from Kelly. The Squirrels (2-4 Class B Region I) came back to score five in the last two innings, but stranded the tying run at first base at the end of the game.

Oakes (3-4) will head to Hunter to take on Northern Cass on Thursday. The Jaguars defeated Oakes on Monday 11-4 at Cummings Field. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts at 4:15 p.m., with first pitch at 4:30.
