N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s been a while since the Jimmie baseball team lost in 2015 and in the conference tournament. Heading into yesterday’s game with Presentation, Jamestown had won 15 in a row in 2015 and hadn’t lost a conference tournament game in three years. Both streaks came to an end yesterday as the Sains rallied from a 6-0 deficit to win 8-7.

Jamestown’s Landon Uetz made it a 6-0 game in the 6th inning when he blasted a John Giove pitch well beyond on the left field wall to plate three runners. That would be just about all the Jimmies could muster against Giove who was in relief of Ryan Baldonado.

Trailing 6-0, Presentation added three runs in the top of seven after Tanner Dahl was pulled with the bases loaded.

The ninth inning is where all the dramatics happened. Ryan Sheeley entered with a 7-3 lead and immediately hit the first batter. Three batters later the bases were full for Baldonado. He tied it with one swing.

Later in the inning, the Saints tried to break the tie with a suicide squeeze. The runner was left out to dry, but catcher Marcus Blackmon had some confusion on whether or not he tagged out the runner. He then tried to throw the ball home, but it got by Sheeley covering. The other runner who started on second base came into score.

Jamestown’s Christian Showalter lead off the the bottom of the inning with a single but would be left there.

The Jimmies will play Dickinson in a loser-out game at 1pm CT. Due to the Minnesota Twins game the action can be heard on 98.3 FM & Newsdakota.com.
