N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police will be on the lookout for youth wearing a helmet while out riding their bikes this summer.

During the summer months, children in Jamestown and across the state will be rewarded with a free Dairy Queen ice cream cone when spotted wearing a helmet while riding a bike, skateboard, scooter or wearing inline skates. The Jamestown Police Department is implementing the I Got Caught safety program locally.

When “caught” with a helmet, officers will “cite” the child with a mock ticket that will be redeemable at participating DQ’s.

“The Jamestown Police Department is looking forward to ‘catching’ your child wearing a helmet. Have a safe and enjoyable summer”, Police Chief Scott Edinger stated.
