N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Northern Plains and Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative have teamed up to install a solar project in Carrington.

According to Katie Ryan-Anderson with the Co-Ops, the project is about the size of what an average farmer or small-business owner would install for use. The Co-ops are analyzing the power of solar energy and are researching it to determine a return on investments.

“The generation we see in central ND is different than generation in other parts of the country. We aren’t selling panels or shares of panels, we just want to be that unbiased resource members can trust.” she stated.

The cost of the project was $14,000 and includes installation. Grants from the USDA Rural Development and N.D. Department of Commerce helped with some expenses. A ribbon-cutting is set for June 22nd at 1:00 PM.
