(NewsDakota.com) Don Warren was announced Tuesday as the next head coach of the Oakes High School Girls Basketball team.

Warren, a former Oakes athletic director and high school principal, was one of two candidates for the position. He replaces Anthony Bryant, who resigned in the off-season after just one season to take a teaching position in the Fargo area.

Warren had success as the head girls basketball coach of McLaughlin, South Dakota throughout much of the 1980’s; taking teams to fourth place finishes at the South Dakota Class B State Girls Basketball Tournament in 1980 and 1984.

The first scheduled game for Oakes in the 2015-16 season is Saturday, December 5 at Sargent Central in Forman, North Dakota.
