Wanzek passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Jean Wanzek was born on January 7, 1936 in Jamestown, North Dakota, the daughter of Regina McQuade. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1954. Jean was united in marriage to Mark Wanzek at St. James on November 5, 1958. Jean worked for the Fair Store for many years. Jean was passionate about volunteering in the community; she would go out of her way for others and always put them first. She enjoyed going to her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and looked forward to attending the “Lunch Bunch” every Thursday with her friends.

Jean was a member of St. James Basilica and the Tabernacle.

Jean is survived by her husband, Mark; son, Jason (Joan) Wanzek and their children, Tyler, Zach, and Sam; son, Shawn (Karmel) Wanzek and their children, Mitch and Brad, and great-grandson, Michael; special friends, Patricia and James Romelfanger; and special friends, Barbara (Jeff) Nuanes-Schempp and their children, Steve, Ray, Breanna, and Alexius.

She was preceded in death by her mother and infant son, Christopher.

Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2015 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, with Monsignor Jeffrey Wald officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Vigil: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: St. Pauline’s Cemetery, Windsor, ND.
