CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After a three-and-out to start the game against Stanley-Powers Lake, the Valley City Hi-Liner offense started rolling against the Blue Jays.

The Hi-Liners would open up the scoring with a John Halgrimson 14 yard rushing touchdown with 7:02 left to go in the first quarter. Halgrimson rushed in the two point conversion to make it 8-0 Valley City.

Then Eli Allen would get into the mix with a 13 yard rushing touchdown with 57 seconds left to go in the first quarter to make it 14-0 Valley City.

In the second quarter the Hi-Liners would score 24 points, highlighted by a Lucas Jury 65 yard punt return for a touchdown.

Valley City’s defense forced 3 turnovers in the game and would go on to  win 44-6 over the Blue Jays at Hannah Field on homecoming night.

The Hi-Liners improve to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the West Region, while Stanley-Powers Lake drops to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the West Region.

Valley City travels to Central Dakota on Friday, October 9th for their next game at 7 p.m. You can listen to the game on AM 1490 KOVC.
