(NewsDakota.com) – Playing late Sunday night at the Fargodome the University of Jamestown football wrapped up their season against Mayville State. The Jimmies came away with a 28-18 victory thanks to three Beau Eriksson passing scores in his final start.
Jamestown struck less than 90 seconds into the game after the Comets turned it over, Eriksson hit Mike Sena for 34-yards. Jarelle Miller made the first of three interceptions on the day to set up the first score. The Jimmies raced out to a 28-6 lead in the early second half.
Eriksson hooked up with JaRiquez Collier for 54-yards, on a play that didn’t have a Comet in the same area code as Collier when he made the catch. Eriksson’s third touchdown was a short one to Mike Thingstad.
Mayville State scored the games final two touchdowns as they tried to close the gap, but couldn’t get closer than 10. They had a controversial two-point conversion take away when Andrew Blake fumbled on his way into the end zone, that would have kept it a one score game.
Jamestown finishes 4-6 on the season. Next year will be the 100th season of Jimmie football.
