CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Need more energy?  Want to feel good and look great in the New Year?  ON THE MOVE can help you have a healthy 2016!

There is nothing more precious that health.  Join ON THE MOVE…either FREE (where you set your personal activity goal and exercise on your own) or join for a minimal fee and attend all of the exercise classes and receive free incentives.

“Set your exercise goal for the New Year and write it down!  Writing your goal down and having it as a daily reminder will motivate you to stay on track and be encouraging to others,” states Sharon Buhr, chair of the Barnes ON THE MOVE Partnership.  “It’s simple, when you join ON THE MOVE and tell us your physical activity goal, you become a free ON THE MOVE member and we will send you information by email to help you stay motivated,” adds Buhr.

ON THE MOVE is a physical activity program for all ages and is designed to help Barnes County residents set a physical activity goal and meet it.  The program offers tips, support and incentives.

Pay only $12 for a single membership until December 1st and then the fee goes up to $15, families can join for $35 until Dec. 1st after that the fee goes up to $45.  Paid members will receive the incentive gifts and be able to participate in the many classes and Try-It sessions.  And paid members will be able to attend local fitness facilities FREE throughout the program.

Several local fitness businesses are partnering with ON THE MOVE to let people who join try out their exercise facilities.  In January any paid ON THE MOVE member can come to Curves from Jan. 1-15 and be a part of their program.

For the first two weeks in February, the Fitness Center will give paid members a swipe card so they can use the center 24-7 which includes using any of their exercise equipment as well as “Fitness on Demand.”  With Fitness on Demand you can check out over 100 different classes on a 10 foot screen.

In March, Snap Fitness will have a couple days when ON THE MOVE members can try out their equipment.

In addition there will be many of the favorite classes offered like Walk Away the Pounds and Hand Weight Routine, these will run Monday through Friday at 11:30 am starting in January and running through March.

New this year will be a variety of classes offered by one of the ON THE MOVE partners, NDSU Extension Service.  Sue Toppen will present topics on managing stress, mindless eating and wellness for busy families.  Attend any of these new classes FREE with a paid membership.

Another unique opportunity this year is the “Weigh 2 Change – Diabetes Prevention Program” class.  This program will start January 5 and will be led by trained lifestyle coaches.  It is FREE for paid ON THE MOVE members.  Pre-registration is required for this class by calling 845-8518.

“The Barnes ON THE MOVE Partnership is fortunate to offer this yearly program which includes many classes and exercise opportunities because of a grant from the North Dakota Department of Health and all of our partners,” states Buhr.

A number of businesses have shown their commitment to healthier employees by paying the membership fee for their staff; these include CHI Mercy Health, Lafarge, Barnes County, Valley City State University, St. Catherine School and Barnes County Seniors Citizens Center.  Open Door Center will pay half the membership fee.

Give the gift of health this holiday season with an ON THE MOVE membership for yourself and others.
