That’s how Chief Jim Ruether of the Jamestown Fire Department describes the past week of calls for the department. The firefighters were dispatched over 16 times in the past week from November 13th through November 26th. Below is a full run down of each call, date and description.
Call No. 250 November 13th, 1:26PM, ready squad responded to 2404 Circle Drive, NDSH-Tompkins Building to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-accidental alarm activation. Fire alarm was reset. Time out 20 minutes
Call No. 251 November 13th, 3:39PM, ready squad responded to 17th St SW and Hwy 281, to assist police with a vehicle accident. Firefighter disconnected the battery. Time out 20 minutes.
Call No. 252 November 13th, 4:25PM, ready squad responded to 1607 12th Ave NE, Multi Family Dwelling, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-burnt food. Fire alarm was reset. Time out 15 minutes.
Call No. 253 November 14th, 7:35AM, fire department responded to 610 7th Ave NE, U of J, to a report of small fire on the outside of the building. Firefighters extinguished the fire and investigated. Cause-mulch on landscape lights. No injuries reported. Time out 25 minutes.
Call No. 254 November 16th, 11:18AM, fire department responded to 1003 13th St NE, to a report of a natural gas leak. Firefighters stood by until MDU turned the gas off. Cause-cut natural gas line by a contractor. Time out 50 minutes.
Call No. 255 November 16th, 6:30PM, ready squad responded to 303 13th St SW, Single Family Dwelling, to investigate smoke smell. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-unknown. Time out 35 minutes.
Call No. 256 November 18th, 8:20PM, ready squad responded to 2404 Circle Drive, NDSH-Tompkins Building, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-unattended cooking. Fire alarm was reset. Time out 30 minutes.
Call No. 257 November 20th, 5:29AM, fire department responded to 452 2nd St SW, Single Family Dwelling, to a report of heavy smoke coming from the structure. Firefighters extinguished the fire and investigated. Most probable cause-electrical malfunction in the attic area. 1 firefighter injurie. Time out 2 hours 45 minutes.
Call No. 258 November 20th, 7:01AM, ready squad responded to 510 2nd St SW, Single Family Dwelling, to investigate a gas smell. Firefighters and MDU checked the structure nothing was detected. Cause-unknown. Time out 15 minutes.
Call No. 259 November 20th, 6:16PM, fire department responded to 115 Sunnyside Trailer Park, Single Family Dwelling, to a report of a structure fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and investigated. Cause-radiant heat from the oven range. 1 firefighter injurie. Time out 1 hour 45 minutes.
Call No. 260 November 20th, 10:02PM, fire department responded to 115 Sunnyside Trailer Park, Single Family Dwelling, to a report of a structure fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and investigated. Cause-rekindle. No injuries reported. Time out 5 hour 40 minutes.

Call No. 264 November 22nd, 8:37AM, ready squad responded to 806 3rd Ave SE, Single Family Dwelling, to investigate carbon monoxide detector activation. Firefighters analyzed for carbon monoxide and 0 ppm was detected. Cause-unknown. Time out 20 minutes.
Call No. 265 November 22nd, 11:25AM, fire department responded to 2400 8th Ave SW, JC Penny, to a report of smoke. Fire was out upon arrival of fire units by store manager, firefighters extracted smoke from the structure and investigated. Cause-electrical malfunction. No injuries reported. Time out 1 hour.
Call No. 266 November 24th, 7:48AM, fire department heavy rescue squad responded to Hwy 20 North at the 5 mile curve, to a report of person/s needing extrication from a vehicle rollover. Firefighters assisted EMS of the removal of patients. Time out 1 hour.
