(NewsDakota.com) In their first game of the 2015-16 season, the Oakes and Lisbon High School boys basketball teams played a contest reminiscent of a game that would normally take place later in the season; full of good execution and plenty of drama; intermixed with big time plays.
No team had a lead larger than seven points, and when it was all said and done, the visiting Broncos finished on a 4-0 run in the final two and a half minutes to secure the 50-46 win Friday night.
Bronco senior center Riley Lau was contained for the most part in the first half by the Tornadoes, but found his groove in the second half; scoring 13 of his game-leading 18 points in the third and fourth quarters.
Meanwhile, the Tornadoes had a solid showing from sophomore forward Sam Huffman, making his first varsity start and scoring 10 points. Seniors Brody Bartholomew and Ethan Zetocha netted 15 and 11 points, respectfully.
Lisbon (1-0) is off until Thursday, December 17 when they go on the road to take on LaMoure-Litchville/Marion. Oakes (0-1) is scheduled to host Central Cass on Saturday.
