CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Several proposals and strategies were discussed during an Alcohol Grant Advisory meeting held earlier this month in Valley City.

City County Health’s Barb Bjorum said several city county health employees support a proposal to amend a Valley City ordinance to include server training for all employees who work at establishments that serves alcohol.

City County Health Director Theresa Will made a number of proposals to board members of the North Dakota Winter Show earlier this year concerning the annual concert held in March.

But Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin said officers do the best job they can enforcing alcohol violations but cannot watch everything that happens during the concert.

The Valley City attorney Russ Myhre is reviewing a request by City County Health to make all employees who serve alcohol take a server training class every 3 years with the city police department.  The city attorney could issue an opinion on the request before March of 2016.

City County Health officials will launch a media blitz educating parents and others on the importance of leading a good example when addressing alcohol use or abuse through a Speak Volumes campaign. To learn more log onto www.parentslead.org
