CITY, N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) A community forum focusing on crime trends, cyber-crime and personal security was held January 6 in Valley City.
Darin Hanson with the North Dakota State and Local Intelligence Center says cyber-crime is on the rise. He says thieves continue to think of faster methods to grab your personal information over the computer.
Hanson presented a video on what people should do during an active shooter situation. The video showed that people have three options run, hide or fight.

Hanson says crime in Barnes County increased 64 percent from 2008 – 2014. In 2014 there were 128 thefts and 30 burglaries in Barnes County. He says were was also an increase in violent crime in Barnes County.
Hanson says there were 83 prostitution arrests in North Dakota a significant increase from the previous year.
Drug arrest are also on the rise statewide. He says meth is back and there were 90 heroin arrests in 2014. Prescription drug abuse is increasing in North Dakota.
Nationally 47 percent of the population have either been a victim of identity theft or have had their personal information compromised in the United States.
Hanson says according to U.S. Intelligence agencies a report claims that they have identified people who have been Radicalized by ISIS in all 50 states.
Hanson says be aware of your environment and if you see something that doesn’t look right say something and report it your local law enforcement agency.
