N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that a man was killed after the driver of the vehicle crashed into a tree while under the influence of alcohol at around 3:15 AM Friday morning.

According to the report, the two men were traveling northbound on 1st Street Northeast in LaMoure when the driver drove off the road at a high rate of speed and struck a tree. Neither of them were wearing a seat belt. Both men were transported to the Oakes Hospital for medical treatment, where the passenger was pronounced dead.

The driver has been charged with a DUI and no names have been released at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
