D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – At a recent Senate hearing, Senator Heidi Heitkamp focused her efforts on Postal Services in the nation.

According to the Senator, there is a call for needed improvement to mail delivery and service in the nation, particularly in North Dakota and rural communities that depend on reliable delivery and have been impacted by cuts to mail service. Heitkamp talked to U.S. Postmaster General Megan Brennan on improving the service and asked for Brennan to look more specifically at the geographical mail delivery needs of rural America.

In July 2015, Heitkamp introduced her Rural Postal Act, which calls for more timely delivery of mail and holds agencies accountable for reaching those goals in a timely manner.
