CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Barnes County Sheriff’s office will take over truck regulatory duties next month.  In January, the Barnes County commission approved of spending ,751 for equipment.

The Regional Truck Regulatory Board dissolved six months ago after the regulatory officer was terminated. The commission will auction off the vehicle during their February 16th regular meeting.

Barnes, Dickey, LaMoure and Stutsman counties will be the only bidders allowed to bid. The minimum bid is set at $5,000.

Meanwhile Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin says the Highway Patrol will train deputies to become truck regulatory officers. Barnes County will start truck regulatory patrols in March.

The $50,000 remaining in the former regulatory budget will be split between Barnes, Dickey, LaMoure and Stutsman counties.
