N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown High School senior Dan Reimers will be attending one of the most prestigious Military Academy’s in the country beginning this summer.
According to the West Point website, individuals must meet certain requirements including academic performance, above average high school or college record, and a well-rounded high school background in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities in a good way.
Applicants must also apply for a nomination from a congressional representative in the Spring of their Junior year. Representative Kevin Cramer nominated Reimers for West Point in August 2015, pointing out that Reimers was a distinguished and qualified student to attend in the nation’s military service academies.
Senior Master Sergeant Larry Smith pointed out that it’s estimated that 15,000 individuals apply yearly to West Point, with only about 1,500 being accepted. West Point is located in West Point, New York.
Reimers was a member of National Honor Society for two years, a member of High School Concert Band and Marching Band, a National Boys State Delegate, competed in Cross Country, Swim, and Dive Team, and was involved in numerous organizations in Jamestown.
