(NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s basketball team is making Sioux City an annual spring break trip with their seventh trip in the last eight seasons to the national tournament. The Jimmies will be a No. 2-seed and play 7th-seeded Oregon Tech in the opening round.

The Owls are 25-8 on the year and reached the national tournament as the conference tournament runners-up in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Southern Oregon was already in the field as the regular-season champions in the two-bid league.

The tournament’s top-overall seed Morningside could be a potential quarterfinal matchup for the Jimmies as they sit on the top of the quadrant.

Jamestown has won at least one game in their last five trips. In 2009, they were beaten by Huntington in the opening round.

The Jimmies enter the touranment with a record of 29-4 after having won the NSAA regular season and tournament championships. The finish of their 65-63 win over Dickinson State in the NSAA final made SportsCenter’s Top-10 plays of the weekend at #2.

Jamestown is coming off their longest stay in Sioux City when they reached the Elite 8 in 2015. They beat St. Thomas (FL) and Cardinal Stritch (WI) before losing to Concordia (NE) 76-59 in the national quarterfinals.
