N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Medical Center has announced their participation in the Let Life Bloom campaign during the month of April to raise awareness of organ, eye and tissue donation.

According to the JRMC, roughly 70% of residents in North Dakota are registered to be organ, eye and tissue donors. The JRMC hopes to increase the number of people who register to donate.

“While that number is higher than the national average of 50%, we’d like to increase it,” said K.C. DeBoer, Jamestown Regional Medical Center’s CEO.

Since 2012, the JRMC’s 10 tissue donors have provided over 600 tissue gifts for transplant recipients. Over 121,000 people are currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant and over 50,000 cornea transplants every year.

Thousands of hospitals nationwide are displaying Let Life Bloom materials throughout the month of April. The JRMC is joining the cause and will be looking to increase registered potential donors.
