CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The city of Valley City is proposing across the board increases for electric, water and sewer rates due to a budget shortfall.

Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph talked about how a 2015 city employee pay raise and other factors lead to this shortfall.

The city of Valley City’s PowerPoint document concerning these proposed rate increases is available below this story. Valley City Public Works Accountant Gary Jacobson talked about the revenue losses and proposed increases needed to balance the budget.

Schelkoph says the city will study three options during the May city finance meeting and the city commission will make a final decision in mid-May.
