SD – (NewsDakota.com) The North Star Athletic Association announced its postseason baseball awards Monday evening following Bellevue’s (Neb.) victory over Mayville State (N.D.) in the conference tournament championship at Jack Brown Stadium in Jamestown, N.D.

The Bruins and Comets will represent the North Star Athletic Association in the NAIA Baseball National Championship Round on May 17-20. Jamestown (N.D.) will most likely receive an at-large bid and will host the national tournament’s opening round at Jack Brown Stadium.

The NAIA Baseball National Tournament Opening Round consists of 45 teams, grouped into 5-team bracket at nine different locations. The winners of each double-elimination bracket advance to the NAIA Baseball World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. Pairings for the opening round will be announced on Friday, May 13 at 3 p.m. (Central Time).

The NSAA Baseball All-Conference teams, postseason awards and Gold Glove team were voted on by the league’s coaches.

The NSAA Baseball First- and Second-Team All-Conference Teams each consist of 17 selections. Bellevue landed six selections on the First-Team All-Conference, followed by Jamestown with five selections.

UJ’s Landon Uetz was voted as the conference’s Player-of-the-Year. Ben McKendall of BU was selected as the conference’s Pitcher-of-the-Year. Mitchell Keeran of Waldorf (Iowa) was named to NSAA Baseball Freshman-of-the-Year. Duane Monlux of Bellevue was chosen as its Coach-of-the-Year.

Bellevue won both the NSAA Baseball Conference Regular-Season (20-3 NSAA conference record) and Postseason Conference Tournament titles.
