(NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown baseball team saw their school-record season cut short at the NAIA national tournament losing to Missouri Baptist, 15-8. The Jimmies won 52 games which is six more than any previous UJ team had won, including the 2004 which had 46 and was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2014.
The game was tied at 5 after the fifth inning and then the Spartan bats woke up with crooked numbers in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings.
Jamestown tied the game in the 5th inning following an Alex Sablan three-run homer and a Westin Hinkle RBI single.
The Jimmies used six different pitchers but couldn’t find the right formula to slow Missouri Baptist. UJ did score three in the 9th, but needed 10 to keep the game going.
The Spartans are now one win from a trip to the NAIA World Series after they followed up their win over Jamestown with a 7-2 victory over Sterling College. Those two will play against at 1pm on Friday with a trip the series on the line.
