Coaches Comments:
“It was great to see us finally put together a good game at the plate. We were starting to hit the ball on the ball hard and on a line for hits.”
“It is a tough loss for us all, we played well and feel like we let a win slip through our fingers, but you have to give Grand Forks credit they made some great play and threw out 2 of our runners at home plate.”
Game 2
Once again it was a late inning let down that help propel the Blues to the win by score of 5-2. With Post 60 leading 2-1 heading to the 5th inning, Grand Forks would score at least 1 run in each of the last 3 innings to take a 5-2 lead and hold for the win.
Jesse Johnson started on the mound for VC and got tagged with the loss. Johnson threw 6.2 innings giving up 5 runs(2 earned) on 7 hits while walking 5 and striking out 7.
Offensively VC struggled at the plate again only picking up 2 hits. Dalton Ondracek and Justin Manson each picked up a hit for VC.
Coaches Comment:
“I think we had a little bit of a hang over from the first game and that tough defeat.”
“The Grand Forks pitcher got better through out the game. He really kept us off balance late in the game and we couldn’t put any quality at bats together.”
“Overall looking at tonight’s games we are pleased with how we played. We were short handed with only 9 for the most of the night. We had few bad timely mistakes that didn’t help us. Only thing we can do is hopefully learn from this and become better.”
With the losses VC record now sits at 3-6 with a 1-4 region record.
Next action for Post 60 is Wednesday as they travel to Fargo to take on the Bombers with 5pm first pitch time.
