Coach’s Comments

I don’t think I’ve coached a match that was this close all the way through.  There were 8 sets where the winning score was 7 games which I have never seen before.

Hunter and Riley kept the ball away from Beske at #1 doubles leading to a hard fought victory.  Hunter followed that up and played very good, taking 6 games off Beske, the reining EDC consolation singles champion.  Riley looked good in singles again and now has a 3 match winning streak.

Collin and Zach played a total of 7 sets in which 6 of them were won by only two games.  These two are both on the cusp of breaking through.  They have the ability, they show the tenacity at times in matches and practice.  They both will put it all together soon here and reach that next level.  Zach won his second three set match in a row and was on the court until after 8 again.

Liam and Jack both had a rough start.  Jack started to hit the ball deeper and hitting away from his opponent leading to a come from behind victory in the first set and continuing that for the win.  Liam figured out how to play his opponent, hit his serve, and when to come into the net.  He got stronger as the match progressed and finished the third set off at love!

Trevor Winter played his first varsity match of his career with Josh at #3 doubles and looked very good.  He kept his shots cross court away from the net player and also hit his serves in.  At the net, he put balls away.  He looked like a veteran player on the court.  Congrats on your first varsity victory of your career!
