N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Flasher man is uninjured following a scary incident at the Mandan Municipal Airport Sunday afternoon.

73 year-old Rodney Ritz was attempting to land the 1965 Aero Commander Bi-Plane on the north end of a runway at the Mandan Municipal Airport. The plane landed short of the runway, deflating a wheel. The plane skidded south on its belly along the runway, causing the plane to catch fire once it had come to rest.

The pilot exited the plane prior to the fire and was uninjured. The crash is under investigation by the FAA and the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
