CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The lights went out for about an hour at a Jefferson elementary school in Valley City on October 11th.

Valley City electrical supervisor Marshall Senf said an underground cable failed and crews had to work most of the day to replace it with a new one.

Valley City School Superintendent Josh Johnson said generators were used to supply a limited amount of lighting for classrooms until the power was fully restored later that day.

Johnson said students helped make sandwiches for lunch being there wasn’t enough power to run the ovens.
