CITY, N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) A rare gold and silver coin was dropped into a Barnes County Salvation Army Red Kettle last night in Valley City according to local Salvation Army spokesman Lee Isensee.

The estimated value of the $20 gold coin minted in 1920 is between $14-hundred to $17-hundred dollars was dropped into the Leevers Foods Red Kettle.

The estimated value of the 1936 Cleveland Centennial Silver Half-dollar is estimated between $200 to $300 dollars. The coin was dropped into a Market Place Foods Red Kettle according to bell ringer Bob Hetler.

Isensee said the employees at the local Wells Fargo bank in Valley City were pretty excited once they saw the rare coins in the daily money drop. He said the donor or donors wish to remain anonymous.
