N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Game & Fish Biologist Doug Leier reports that with the colder temperatures hitting the Midwest, the formation of ice is looking better.
Earlier this month, Leier reported that insulated lakes and water sources were not developing ice as much as anglers wanted. But with the current arctic blast hitting the state, ice formation is looking good.
Ice formation was originally prohibited by the mild November weather and then the sudden blast of snow storms that hit the area.
Leier pointed out that some areas, specifically in Jamestown, are seeing 6 to 8 inches of ice, but anglers are still encouraged to check the ice before venture out.
