FARGO (NewsDakota.com)- Neither team could contain the offensive attack of Sheyenne as The Mustangs bested Valley City twice in an EDC doubleheader Thursday night. The Hi-Liner lost 85-43 in the boys game and 70-49 in the girls contest. Both teams will face Fargo North Friday night, the boys play at home with the girls traveling to Fargo.

The Mustangs never fell behind and held Valley City to 15 first half points in their 85-43 win. Sheyenne was up 43-15 at halftime and pushed their led at 40 in the 2nd half to hand The Hi-Liners their 2nd straight conference loss. 

Carter Bonnema of Sheyenne topped all scorers with 21, teammate Chase Erickson added 12. Levi Nix had 10 for Valley City with Nate Rodriguez scoring 8 and Dalon Allen 5.  The Hi-Liners are 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Teams traded points early on with The Hi-Liners taking the lead twice when Sheyenne began to pull away at the midway point of the opening half. The Mustangs were up 43-23 at intermission and added 27 more in the 2nd half for their 2nd win of the season. Valley City is left looking for their first victory of the year falling to 0-5.

Taryn Dieterle scored 16 points for The Hi-Liners. Kacee White, Courtney Lloyd and Grace Scherr each had 7 points. Sheyenne had 3 in double figures with Maggie Manson leading the way with 23, Kierra Freih had 16 and Yasmina Dokara 12.
