(NewsDakota.com) After losing by just a single point the night before, the Oakes High School girls basketball team moved back to a .500 record after a 61-50 victory Saturday afternoon against South Border.

The Tornadoes (5-5, 0-3 Class B District 5) were down by two at half before opening up a 14 point lead going to the fourth quarter. Nichole Schmitz had a team high, and career high 30 points; while Sadie Hansen hit five three-pointers and finished with 19 points in the victory.

The Mustangs (3-5, 0-1 District 6) had a lead as large as seven in the second quarter, before Oakes started on their run towards the end of the half that carried into the third quarter.  Kayla Rohr lead with 18 points, while Katie Schmidt added 12.
