N.D. (AP) — The long-running dispute over whether the Ward County Historical Society’s museum will be allowed to remain on the North Dakota State Fairgrounds is going to trial.
An advisory jury will hear the case beginning Tuesday and give its opinion to a judge, who will make a final decision.
The North Dakota State Fair Association wants to evict the Historical Society’s Pioneer Village, saying the lease of the property is up and that it wants the land for other uses.
The society maintains it has a right to maintain its museum on the fairgrounds under terms of a 1966 agreement.
The battle began in December 2013 and first went to the courts in February 2014. The Legislature in 2015 refused to get involved.
