(NewsDakota.com)- The Hi-Liners had two different style games with two different outcomes Tuesday night in Lisbon. The girls fought back only to get edged by The Broncos 49-46 while the boys controlled the game from beginning to end in a 61-44 victory. Its back to EDC basketball Friday against Grand Forks Central. The boys play at home while the girls travel to Grand Forks.

 

GBB: Lisbon 49 VCHS 46

After surrendering a 26-24 halftime lead The Hi-Liners went into the game’s final 8 minutes trailing 39-35.Lisbon grabbed an 8 points advantage and it looked like they would begin to pull away when a scoring run brought Valley City within 3 points. Kacee White grabbed a missed free throw and ran the length of the court for a field goal and The Hi-Liners were down 47-46 with 40 seconds on the clock. Lisbon got free throws from Karly Schultz and Elizabeth Lyons to extend their lead to 3 points and Valley City was unable to get the equalizer as time ran out.

The game featured 6 ties and 4 lead changes. Taryn Dieterle scored 13 points for Valley City. Kacee White and Courtney Lloyd added 7 each and Grace Scherr had 6. Kaitlin Geyer led Lisbon with 11 points, Elizabeth Lyons and Jamie Reinke both scored 9. 

BBB:VCHS 61 Lisbon 44

Valley City held Lisbon to a season low 44 points ending their 3 games losing skid. The Hi-Liners were on top 39-19 at half time and went into the 4th quarter leading 52-33. Levi Nix had 12 first quarter points and finished the night 22, Nate Rodriguez scored 17. Drew Oberlander had 9 points and Justin Manson and Matt Lyter 5 each. Kyle Odegard led Lisbon with 10. Maverick Coleman collected 9.
