(JimmieAthletics.com) – It became the fourth straight North Star sweep for the University of Jamestown basketball teams when they swept Presentation College Wednesday night at the Jamestown Civic Center.

Taking a 12-point lead into the break, the Jimmie women’s basketball team outscored Presentation College 33-7 in the third quarter to build a 38-point lead, winning 102-72 Wednesday at the Jamestown Civic Center.
The Saints shot 64 percent from the field in the first quarter, making seven of their 11 shots, but Jamestown was equally as accurate, connecting on 63.2 percent of their attempts and leading 34-15 after one.
Presentation continued making shots when they needed in the second ten minutes, and finished the half outshooting the Jimmies 63.3 percent to 52.5 percentm but found themselves down 12 at the break.
Taylor Hammer (SR/Grand Forks, ND) and Alexis Watts (SR/Miller, SD) combined to score the first nine points of the second half and Jamestown led by 21 (65-44) before Macy Toelle scored Presentation’s first points of the quarter at the 6:58 mark. The Jimmies then reeled off 21 straight points over a 4:09 span to turn the game into a 40-point advantage.
Presentation outscored Jamestown 21-13 in the final stanza, but the damage had already been done, and the Jimmies won their eighth straight game and remained undefeated in NSAA play.
Hammer led the Jimmies with 20 points and seven rebounds, one of five Jamestown players in double figures. Bryn Woodside (JR/Albert Lea, MN) had 18 and nine assists, Kyra Dewald (SR/Jamestown, ND) added 13 points and five assists, Watts chipped in with 12 points, and McKayla Orr (JR/Ypsilanti, ND) had 11 points off the bench.

With 4 1/2 games separating first through seventh places in the men’s North Star Athletic Association basketball conference standings, a win for the Jimmies in Wednesday’s game against the visiting Presentation (S.D.) College Saints was crucial for Jamestown to keep the pace. Despite needing extra time, the Jimmies came away 108-101 winners in overtime.
UJ led by as many as 16 with 12:21 in the second half, only to see the Saints score 30 of the game’s next 43 points and retake the lead.
Donnell Minton was fouled on a three-point shot with 2:55 left, and after missing the first of his three foul shots, he made good on the second and third attempts, putting Presentation ahead for the first time since leading 3-2 48 seconds into the game.
Minton extended the Saint lead to six on the next possession, draining a three-pointer to make the score 86-82 with 2:20 left.
Jake Hagler (SR/Cando, N.D.)’s basket with 32 seconds left cut Presentation’s lead to two. However, Aaron Samuels sank a pair of foul shots to put the Saints up 92-88. Hagler slashed his way through the PC defense, making a layup while getting fouled. He converted the and-one foul shot, bringing the Jimmies within one.
Forced to foul to save the clock, UJ fouled Elijah Valdez with 10 ticks left, but he only made one of two to leave the Jimmies down 93-91. Valdez was called for a foul on Sam Johnson (JR/Mora, Minn.) with five seconds left, and the Jimmie long-distance specialist was good on both free throws, tying the game at 93.
PC drew first blood in overtime on a bucket by Lashawn Lewis, but Jamestown went on a 6-0 run with five points from Jacob Havron (SR/Pukalani, Hawaii) and another from Johnson to take a 99-95 lead with 1:09 left.
A three from Johnson was the eventual dagger for the Saints’ hopes, but Daymeann Stewart (JR/Milwaukee, Wis.) made four clutch free throws down the stretch to keep the Jimmies ahead,
Havron scored a career-high 29 points and tied his personal best with 15 rebounds to lead the Jimmies. Hagler and Jon Purintun (SO/Linton, N.D.) each finished with 19 points, while Logan Brown (SR/Roseville, Minn.) and Riley Henderson (SO/Bismarck, N.D.) chipped in with 11. Henderson dished out eight assists as well.
Minton led all scorers with 39 points, continuing his superb season. He was just one rebound short of a double-double, finishing with nine. Samuels had 16 points and eight assists, and Marcus Holman and Lewis each ended with 12. Bryan Jones pulled down 10 rebounds for Presentatio
