N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Area non-profits are constantly providing service and assistance to the region at no cost.

On February 9th, some of these non-profits will be looking to receive some assistance of their own.

The annual Giving Hearts Day has been set for February 9th. The day is an all-day online fundraising event with local and statewide charities and non-profits receiving donations and matching funds to benefit their projects. One of those organizations is the Freedom Resource Center.

Beth DeWald is an Independent Living Advocate with the Freedom Resource Center. She pointed out that their goal of $19,000 will only be made possible with donations from the area and the matching funds from the Dakota Medical Foundation.

Another area participant in Giving Hearts Day is the University of Jamestown. Jim Klemann is the Director of Annual Giving at the University.

He pointed out that over $3 million was raised state-wide during the 2016 giving event.

Klemann stated that the University also has an anonymous donor who has pledged a $5,000 match if they reach $5,000 or more.

Several other organizations include Service Dogs for America, Jamestown Branch of the Salvation Army, Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation, St. John’s Academy, The Jamestown Art’s Center, the Anne Carlsen Center, Farm Rescue, American Heart Association and The American Red Cross Dakota region. You can find a full list of the over 300 charities by clicking here.

All donations will be matched to a certain point. Donations will only be matched if donated online at impactgiveback.org during the day.
