N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist updated the Stutsman County Commission on the latest with the 911 center Tuesday afternoon.

Bergquist reported that Barnes County had requested Stutsman County to renew their Mutual Aid Agreement. The counties are still currently in the aid agreement, but Barnes County was looking for a five-year renewal.

The commission unanimously approved the agreement.

Bergquist later reported on the Communications Center Annual Report, pointing out that 2016 saw much less total calls for service than in 2015.

Bergquist estimated that those calls were due to the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department assistance with the Dakota Access Pipeline situation. Bergquist stated that the three largest calls for service were to the Jamestown Police Department, Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department and Ambulance service.

59,928 911 calls were placed in 2016, up from total numbers in 2015. Bergquist reported that most 911 calls for Stutsman County came from cellphones, a trend that has been seen nationwide.

Bergquist also updated the commission on the latest with the radio tower replacement lighting project. Bergquist said some lines needed to be replaced, and that would be done later this spring.
