(JimmieAthletics.com) – The Jimmie offense scored 18 runs in a sweep of Waldorf (Iowa) University to open North Star Athletic Association conference play.

Jamestown scored four times in each of the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings in taking game one by a final of 12-8.

Mark Kane (SR/Tinley Park, IL)’s three-run home run with one out in the fourth tied the game at three, and Scooter Turin (JR/Sandy, OR)’s double scored Taichi Sasaki (JR/Sakai, Osaka, Japan) to put UJ ahead 4-3.

Kane finished the game with 4 RBI while Turin and Peter Pennylegion (JR/Ferndale, WA) each finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in. Tyler Ludlow (JR/Port Orchard, WA) also had two hits for the Jimmies.

Jerome Byndloss (JR/Las Vegas, Nev.) improved to 8-0 on the season, pitching 5 2/3 innings and striking out five.  

Brad Bennett (SR/Hillsboro, OR) pitched a gem for Jamestown in game two, allowing an unearned run on two hits over seven innings as UJ won 6-1. Bennett struck out seven and walked one in moving to 3-1 on the year.

Landon Uetz (SR/West Fargo, ND) homered with two outs in the top of the first to get the Jimmies on the board.

Run-scoring doubles by Ludlow and Pennylegion along with an Alex Sablan (SR/Port Orchard, WA) single made it 4-0 Jamestown in the fourth. 

The Warriors got on the board in their half of the fourth, scoring an unearned run without the benefit of a hit to cut the deficit to 4-1.

Jamestown’s final two runs came in the seventh, with Matt Noll (SR/Bremerton, WA) scoring on a wild pitch and Kane singling to drive in Uetz.

Uetz and Nico Kelly (SR/Chicago Heights, Ill.) both had two hits for UJ, who moved to 19-8 and 2-0 in NSAA action. Waldorf fell to 6-20 and 0-2 in conference play.

The two teams meet again Monday in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
