N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County authorities confiscated roughly 16 and a half pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop Tuesday on Highway 281 south of Jamestown.

48 year-old Samuel Henrey Hanna of California was apprehended following a traffic stop by Stutsman County Deputy Matt Thom. When Thom asked Hanna if he could search the vehicle, Hanna denied the request. Deputy Thom stated that he could smell marijuana and the K9 unit confirmed.

A search found roughly 16 and a half pounds of marijuana valued at more than $100,000, along with drug paraphernalia and a large knife. Hanna was arrested on suspicion of possession and delivery of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon and making a false statement to a law officer.

Hanna is currently being held at the Stutsman County Correctional Center. His initial court date has not been scheduled. He may be facing additional charges.
