CITY (NewsDakota.com)- Expectations are high for the 2017 Valley City High School Softball team. Last season The Hi-Liners finished the most successful spring in program history coming in 3rd at The 2016 Class A State Tournament. They also broke or tied 8 individual records and set 3 new team ones. Valley City loses 3 seniors from last years team including All EDC Selection and EDC Senior Athlete of the Year pitcher Tarryn Justesen. Nearly the entire starting line up, which includes all conference players  Kacee White, Jayda Haugen and Mackenzie Pederson, remains intact. With such a strong foundation underneath them head coach Jason Lindgren is confident the pitching will come around quickly

Left handed sophomore pitcher Becca Thompson is one of the players expected to log some innings in the circle this season, she says she knew at the end of last year she’d be fighting for a starting spot

Valley City plays their first two games on the road, Tuesday they travel to Grand Forks to face Red River and Friday they play the defending state champion West Fargo Packers. Junior Kacee White feels the team’s experience together will be a key to early success this year

Hi-Liner softball will have their home opener next Tuesday against Grand Forks Central. Both games of that doubleheader will be on KOVC and NewsDakota.com.
