CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com)- It was 2 different style victories for The Hi-Liners Saturday afternoon. In a pair of non conference wins Valley City softball beat Jamestown 7-6 and 10-0. With the season wrapping up next week The Hi-Liners have won 4 in a row and move to 8-13 on the season. The Blue Jays drop to 13-15.

 

 

Game 1: VCHS 7 JHS 6

Valley City had to fend off a late run from Jamestown to win a back and forth contest. The lead changed hands 3 times, down 5-4 The Hi-Liners had 3 run 6th inning to pull ahead 7-5. In top of the 7th Hannah Schiele lead off with single and score on a sac fly from Sydney Soulis to cut it down to 7-6. The tying run was at second when Becca Thompson induced a fly out to end the game. 

McKenna Taylor had 2 hits with 3 RBIs for Valley City. Mackenzie Pederson went 2 for 4 with 3 runs and an RBI and Kacee White collected 3 hits with 3 runs. Mariah Wick, Olivia Nihill, Sydney Soulis and Chloe Crabtree had run scoring hits for The Blue Jays.

Thompson surrendered 6 hits with a strike out for the win, Olivia Nihill got the loss working 2 innings of relief. 

Game 2: VCHS 10 JHS 0 (5 innings)

The Hi-Liners scored 10 runs on 9 hits and used a 5 run 5th to close out the afternoon sweep. Taylor and Pederson each had 2 RBIs with Maren Horner and Emily Murray each driving in runs. White collected another 3 hits. Wick, Hanna Schiele and Olivia Nihill had hits for The Jays. 

Grace Sherr held Jamestown to just 3 hits with 7 strike outs. Payton Gall was the lossing pitcher.
