N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- WDA senior softball player of the year and future NDSU Bison Jaime Barta threw a no hitter Thursday night in a 9-0 win over Valley City in the first round of The Class A State Tournament. Barta was perfect through the first 10 hitters before Kacee White drew a 4 pitch walk in the 4th. A base runner would get aboard in the 5th, 6th and 7th but none reached via a hit. Hi-Liner head coach Jason Lindgren said Barta was able to establish control early in the game

The Demons scored 3 runs in the 2nd and added 2 in the 5th and 4 in the 6th. Barta, who had 9 strike outs, went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs; Lakyn Stork had a 2 run home run in the 5th. Hailey Schaefer pitched all 6 frames for Valley City, she struck out 5 and walked 2. Bismarck had 11 hits.
