N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission has awarded around .3 million in infrastructure grants to multiple public airports around the state.

These grants will be used to help fund numerous high priority airport projects in North Dakota. The money is made possible through taxes on aviation fuel and aircraft sales. The commission reports that a majority of grant allocations will match federal grants anticipated for 2017 projects.

“These grants are critical in maintaining the needed infrastructure to support the aviation industry, which is a major contributor to the state’s economy,” the commission states.

Several area airports have received portions of the $3.3 million for certain projects. Some projects include Ashley, Ellendale, Harvey, Valley City, Enderlin, New Rockford, Wishek and many others.

Jamestown Regional Airport will receive around $42,089 of the grant money for several projects including runway rehabilitation, a Jetway passenger boarding bridge, and new operations and maintenance vehicle. The total cost of projects announced for the airport total around $687,770.
