N.D. (KFGO) – A man’s body was recovered from the Red River at Lindenwood Park in south Fargo.

Fire Chief Steve Dirksen says the victim was swimming across the river when he went under and didn’t resurface. Fire departments from Fargo and Moorhead started the search around 1:30 yesterday afternoon. Valley Water Rescue used divers. The body was found around 6 last night.

The man’s name has not been released. It’s the third drowning this summer in the Red River in Fargo-Moorhead.

Two weeks ago, fire crews were involved in a daring rescue when they saved two men after their boat got stuck in rocks near the south dam in Fargo.
