In the first of the three matches, both teams battled back and forth in the first set, before the Rebels (19-11) started to pull away in the next two sets.

EKM had a team high four aces and 16 kills from Katie Entiz. BCN (10-19) had three aces apiece from Ashley McFadgen and Alexis Greshik.

#2 Carrington def. #7 Midkota 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-11)

The Cardinals (25-8) managed a total of 11 aces, and had three players earn double digit kills. Kadyn Mehring had a team high 11, and Emerson Hoornet along with MaKayla McIntosh each had 10.

The Mustangs (9-19-1) registered two aces and four kills from Mariah Topp.

#3 Oakes def. #6 Ellendale 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-15)

After a bit of a shaky start, the hometown Tornadoes found momentum, and never looked back after the first set.

The Tornadoes (23-8) had two aces apiece from Emily Cox, Makayla Wetzel, Marisa Garza and Sadie Hansen. Nicole Schmitz had a team high nine kills.

The Cardinals (11-14-1) saw Josie Henningsen lead the way with seven aces and kills.

Day number two is Friday, and commences at 4:30 with Midkota meeting Ellendale. At 6 p.m., LaMoure-Litchville/Marion goes against EKM. The third match at 7:30 features Oakes and Carrington.
