VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) -The first annual Battle of the Badges in Valley City was a complete success last week.

United Blood Services spokesman James Roberts said 166 people volunteered to give blood and 143 of them were able to donate, 49 gave blood for the first time. Team Fire won the battle with 85 volunteers over Team Law’s 81.

Special thanks Fire Chief Gary Retterath and Police Chief Phil Hatcher as well as all of those who scheduled donors and to Casey Stoudt at Stoudt-Ross Ford for providing the location and refreshments.

Thanks also to the sponsors Stoudt-Ross Ford, Sheyenne Valley Backing the Badge, Barnes County Ambulance, Grand Stay Hotel and Suites, Quality Alignment & Brake Center, Diane Hochhalter Photography, Bridgetown Imprints and Petro Serve USA for providing t-shirts for everyone that volunteered during the October 18th & 19th event in Valley City.
