YORK CITY, NY (NewsDakota.com) – New York Police say at least six are dead and more than a dozen are injured following a deadly attack in lower Manhattan in New York City Tuesday.

Police report that a truck drove down the wrong way of a bike path on the West Side Highway, striking several people. Reports say the driver then rammed into another vehicle, exited his vehicle with what police say are “imitation firearms,” and was shot.

“I was right next to it,” said Harlie Wilson, formerly from Jamestown. “I was just leaving the 9/11 memorial when all the cops and ambulances started flying by.”

Wilson says there was a panic in the area.

“I got stuck in between a bunch of cops and I was listening to the police scanner and could hear them all panicking and saying there was an active shooter,” she explained.

Police say that have one person in custody. Currently, the FBI and New York Police Department are investigating the incident. More information on the situation is sure to follow.
