OAKES (NewsDakota.com) In their final games before Christmas, the Oakes High basketball teams split a home doubleheader, with the girls losing to a top-five team, while the boys got back to the .500 mark against a former District 1 foe.

The Rebels (8-0, 1-0 Class B District 5) started the game out on a 11-0 run. Oakes pulled to within three points in the second quarter, but EKM then made four straight three-pointers to pull away, and never looked back.
EKM had a team high 18 points from Katie Entzi, with Tallie Hanson adding another 15. The Tornadoes (4-2, 1-1) saw their four game winning streak snapped, and had 10 points from Nicole Schmitz.
Boys: Oakes 67 Milnor-North Sargent 56
The Tornadoes had a lead as large as 16, but the Bulldogs were able to make it a game late due to three point shooting. In the end, Oakes (2-2, 0-1) was able to hold down MNS (1-3, 1-1 Class B Region I) to earn the victory.
Oakes had three players in double figures: Tyler Voightman (20), Garrett Meehl (17) and Andy Castro (10). MNS had a team high 22 points from Josh Martinson.
